Brunei is famous for its iconic mosques, you know it before you step out of the airport.
You see the first one before stepping out of the airport - pushing your luggage trolley and waving at those who came to receive you.
There it was, a tall minaret (tower) soaring into the blue sky. Arabic inscriptions carved on the giant entrance, a golden hue reflecting the sun.
I stood at the entrance and gazed it, until my back of my neck went sore.
Is it a palace, is it a mosque - well, that's an architectural style which defines the icons of Brunei.
On a gentle note, mosques are a place of worship, so must respect the local customs and etiquette. Which means enter only in proper & covered clothes and no interior photography. The local people are warm, welcoming and pleasant to talk to.
